Causes and Consequences of Polar Amplification
-
Our current focus is to understand the asymmetric response of polar amplification to a wide range of greenhouse gases.
-
My LDEO postdoctoral project aims to understand the cause of Arctic Amplification from a perspective of the effects of multiple green-house gases.
- with Drs Lorenzo M. Polvani and Michael Previdi (LDEO).
- with Dr Karen Smith (U. of Toronto Scarborough).
-
My WHOI postdoctoral project focuses on the impacts of Arctic sea-ice changes on midlatitude climate variability
- I use Community Earth System Model 2 (CESM2) to
produce large-ensemble simulations.
- with Drs Young-Oh Kwon, Claude Frankignoul (WHOI).
- with Drs Gokhan Danabasoglu, Stephen Yeager (NCAR).

Mid-latitude large-scale atmospheric circulation and oceanic variability
-
We found that one large-scale atmospheric circulation pattern the Tropical Northern Hemisphere (TNH) pattern can affect North Pacific and North Atlantic simultaneously (PDF).
- Code to generate the TNH index can be found here.
