Causes and Consequences of Polar Amplification

  • We study the impacts of Arctic amplification and sea-ice loss on midlatitude climate variability and extreme events

  • Our current focus is to understand the asymmetric response of polar amplification to a wide range of greenhouse gases.

  • My LDEO postdoctoral project aims to understand the cause of Arctic Amplification from a perspective of the effects of multiple green-house gases.
    - with Drs Lorenzo M. Polvani and Michael Previdi (LDEO).
    - with Dr Karen Smith (U. of Toronto Scarborough).

  • My WHOI postdoctoral project focuses on the impacts of Arctic sea-ice changes on midlatitude climate variability
    -  I use Community Earth System Model 2 (CESM2) to
      produce large-ensemble simulations.
    - with Drs Young-Oh Kwon, Claude Frankignoul (WHOI).
